Mono-crystalline Solar Panels are very efficient, even in low-light conditions, because they are made of one large crystal of silicon. They are not common as they are more expensive than Poly-crystalline Solar Panels to manufacture. Mono-crystalline Solar Panels can be ground-mounted or roof-mounted.
Poly-crystalline Solar Panels are not quite as efficient as Mono-crystalline Solar Panels, but are the most common type because they are less expensive to manufacture. They are made of many small silicon crystals. Poly-crystalline Solar Panels can be ground-mounted or roof-mounted.
Amorphous Solar Panels are less efficient than the above two types, therefore they require a larger surface area for the same level of power generation. However they are the cheapest to manufacture. They are made of a thin film of molten silicon that is spread across large plates of stainless steel.
A great advantage of Amorphous Solar Panels over the above two is that they continue to charge when only part of the solar panel receives sun. They work better in hot climates than traditional solar panels and work well on large
Solar chargers convert the sun's energy into DC current in order to charge batteries. Solar charger protects the battery from over charging and over current. Some solar charger is inbuilt with display units which show the amount of charge available in battery for use. Solar charger even has indicator display showing whether the battery is empty, charging or full.
Battery for solar energy system: Battery used for solar electrical system is storage type where the converted solar energy to electrical energy is stored in battery for further use. Battery capacity is determined by the consumers load demand, higher the demand higher will be the capacity and the number of battery installed. Battery may be dry type or acid type battery. Capacity of battery decreases with the amount of use and depth of discharge and the life given by the manufacture.
Inverter/converter:These are used to convert DC electrical energy produced by solar cells into AC electrical energy. The rating of inverter is either in VA or KVA. Rating depends on the load to be supplied. If the user wants to use DC equipment only there is no use of inverter and accordingly the cost reduces.

Sun is the source of renewable energy available on day time which can be capture to generate electricity, heating water, heating home etc. Solar energy had been found to be in use since ages as a source of energy. Solar energy is considered to be very important in the present and will be of a greater importance in the future
